Zeula Marie Kyle, 97, of Eldorado died Monday, August 10, 2009. She was born April 16, 1912 in Richmond, IN, the fifth of six daughters of Clay & Anna (Humphreys) Sanderson. Zeula moved with her family to West Manchester, OH at the age of fourteen. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1929 and married Willis J. Kyle in 1931. She lived all of her adulthood in and around Eldorado. She was a loving and devoted mother to son Thomas and daughter Pamela. Although her primary focus was homemaking, she found time to participate in the Band Parents and Parent Teachers' Association at Monroe and in the Eldorado Fire Department Auxiliary. She also served as Presiding Judge on the village Board of Elections for many years. A long-time member of the Eldorado Universalist church, she served the denomination as State President of the Association of Universalist Women. She remained an active member of the church's AUUW into her nineties. She had the distinction of being selected Ohio University's 1963 Mother of the Year, an honor she richly deserved and always cherished. Zeula loved to read, travel, play cards, and attend family functions.
Preceded in death by her son, husband, parents, and sisters.
Survived by daughter Pamela; former daughter-in-law Linda (Paul) Ray; grandsons Jeffrey Kyle, Brian (Lisa) Kyle, Thomas (Laura) Silvey; granddaughter Andrea (Larry Chia) Lee; great-granddaughters Staci (Paul) Davis, Samantha Kyle, Kayla Kyle, Miranda Lee; step-great-grandsons Damon Clark, Dakota Williams, Christopher Chia; great-great grandchildren Tanner & Allison Davis; special niece Beverly Conard and many other nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Zeula's life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Eldorado Universalist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Eldorado Universalist Church, Hospice of Dayton, American Cancer Society, Richmond Civic Theater, or your favorite charity.
