William T. Daugherty

William T. "Bill" Daugherty age 77 of New Paris, OH died Saturday evening February 7, 2009 at Reid Hospital in Richmond. Born on June 8, 1931 in Richmond, IN he was the son of the late George & Marguerite (Hampton) Daugherty. Bill attended Richmond High School and was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran serving on the U.S.S. Hollister and received the National Defense Service Medal, China Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He retired in 1993 from Belden Wire & Cable in Richmond, IN after over 40 years of service. He loved bowling, fishing and all outdoors activities.

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years Betty L. Daugherty in 2005; brother: Charles Daugherty and sister: Mary Louise Daugherty. He was greatly loved by his Children: Cynthia A. Daugherty, Michael Daugherty, Timothy Daugherty, Susan & Chris Begley and Billy T. Daugherty. 15 grandchildren: Stacey, Kristie, Michelle, Amy, Sarah, Jamie, Brandi, Timmy, Brittney, Tiffany, Mandy, Brian, Christopher, Jerod and Emily. 16 great grandchildren: Brandon, Randy, Kali, Blake, James, Mollie, Monica, Gracie, Sierra, Lily, Lillian, Brianna, Logan, Ellie Jean, Braedon and Ethan.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Barnes Funeral Home - 109 West Main Street - New Paris, Ohio with Rev. Todd Riebe officiating. Family will receive friends Wednesday, February 11, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris, Ohio with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
