William Jordan, Jr.

William Jordan Jr., age 83, departed this earth for his heavenly home on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 5:50 pm. Bill, as known to most, was at home with family at the time of his passing. He had been in declining health due to chronic kidney disease and COPD.

Bill was born to William and Daisy (Shearer) Jordan on October 18, 1935 in Rock Castle County Kentucky. The family moved to Richmond Indiana in 1950. Bill moved to New Paris Ohio in 1962 with his wife and children. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Patricia (Petry), of 65 years. He is survived by three children: Ronald (Melissa) Jordan, Janice (Vern) Bradshaw, Teresa (Brad) Lee; by one sister Eula Owens and by one brother Randall (Terrie) Jordan; by two granddaughters, four grandsons, two great grandsons, one great-great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill’s first job was at a Richmond bowling alley as a pin setter. He then began working for Bachmeyer Greenhouses followed by Rause Greenhouses. Bill and his wife operated their own greenhouse business which they operated until moving to New Paris at which time he was employed at Moto-Mower of Richmond. He later worked at Baker Construction establishing himself as a general contractor before starting his own business, Jordan Construction, which he ran and operated for over 40 years.

Bill was the epitome of a loving husband, father and grandfather and was known for his ingenuity and strong work ethic. In his spare time, he loved bee keeping, vegetable gardening and raising small herds of cattle, sheep, and goats. He also raised and sold rabbits and chickens. He loved working with his hands whether he was driving a nail or hoeing a row. He rarely took a vacation because he would say that no place compared to his small farm which he loved so much.

A celebration of his life and legacy will be lead by Reverend Chris Cain of Connersville Indiana on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Barnes Funeral Home in New Paris Ohio. Visitation will be held from 12 noon till 1:00 pm with the formal service immediately following. Burial will take place at Spring Lawn Cemetery also in New Paris.
