WILLIAM JAMES RICH, SR., age 55, of Eaton, Ohio died Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. Born on October 28, 1952 in Hamilton, Ohio, he was the son of the William Earl & Pauline (Weatherly) Rich. William proudly served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. He was a self employed truck driver for 38 years and worked for Chaler Trucking Company in Richmond, Indiana and several other companies throughout the Midwest. William volunteered to help the Eaton Fire Department with their fund raisers and several other duties. William attended the First Church of God in Eaton, Ohio.
Preceded in death by his father, William Earl Rich in 2005; son, Raymond Charles Rich in 2004; brother, Robert Lewis Ricker in 1978.
Survived by his wife of 12 years, Rita Ann (Wentz) Rich of Eaton, Ohio; son, William James Rich, Jr. of Oxford, Ohio; daughters & sons-in-law, Mia Lynn & Alex Floyd of Riverside, Ohio, Tammy Lynn Rich of Kendallville, Indiana and Janie Marie & Lynn Garrison of Kendallville, Indiana; mother, Pauline (Weatherly) Rich of Oxford, Ohio; mother, Barbara (Watkins) Rich of Camden, Ohio; brothers & sisters-in-law, Lynn & Sharon Rich of Middletown, Ohio, Tom Ricker of Camden, Ohio, Matt Rich of Camden, Ohio; sisters & brothers-in-law, Nancy Rich of Middletown, Ohio, Donna & Rick Bryant of Dayton, Ohio, Carrie & Jamie Hubbard of Monroe, Ohio, Mickey & Russ Singleton of Somerville, Ohio and Amanda & Kenny Turvene of Camden, Ohio; grandchildren, Trevor, Nevaeh, Ethan, Rylee, Dillon, Logen, Kolton, Dane, Raynana, and Addison; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Richard G. & Areta J. Wentz of Eaton, Ohio; sister-in-law, Beth Shelton of Eaton, Ohio; several uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at First Church of God - 601 East Lexington Road - Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Jerry Reynolds officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 20, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be held in Preble Memory Gardens in West Alexandria, Ohio with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Arrangements entrusted to Barnes Funeral Homes - 220 East Main Street - Eaton, Ohio. Memorials may be made to the ones's favorite charity.
