William J. Owens

William “Bill” J. Owens, age 76, of New Paris, Ohio died Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on January 30, 1930 in New Paris, Ohio he was the son of the late Lee W.& Jennie E. (Ashbaugh) Owens, Sr. He graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1948. Bill worked for over 20 years as Treasurer for the Jefferson Township & C. R. Coblentz School Districts. He retired in 1990 and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bill was an avid piano player and an organist. He lived in New Paris, Ohio all his life. Preceded in death by his sister: Mary Burton in 1991; brother: Lee “Doc” Owens, Jr. in 1997.

Survived by his sister: Thelma Snelling of New Paris, Ohio; niece: Deborah Davis of New Paris, Ohio; nephews: Joseph Snelling of Crawfordsville, Florida, Mark Owens of New Paris, Ohio, and Terry Burton of Rising Sun, Indiana. Several great great nieces & nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2006 - 1:00 pm at Barnes Funeral Home -109 West Main Street - New Paris, OH 45347. Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 4, 2006 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris, Ohio.
