WILLIAM J. FINNELL, age 81, of South Charleston, Ohio, died on Wednesday, March 5, 2008. Born on March 2, 1927 in Coshocton, Ohio, he was the son of the late William & Ruth A. (Smith) Finnell. He attended Hamilton High School in Ohio. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Military Policeman and in the Ohio National Guard. He was a long time resident of Richmond, Indiana. He retired in 1989 after 17 years as a Machine Shop Foreman from Kelsey-Hayes in Springfield, Ohio and he worked for AVCO Manufacturing in Richmond, Indiana for 27 years. He was a Life Member of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association in Vandalia, Ohio. A special thanks to all the caregivers and nurses who have helped us during this difficult time.
Preceded in death by his wife of 19 years, Edith C. (Martin) Finnell in 1993; sister, Shirley Bickel; brothers, Robert Finnell, Charles Finnell, Wayne Finnell, James Gail Finnell; great grandson, Skylar Aaron Sams.
Survived by his son, Roger A. Wills of South Charleston, Ohio; daughter & son-in-law, Norma & George Surber of Richmond, Indiana; brothers & sisters-in-law, Rolland Finnell of Dayton, Ohio, Roger Dean & Frances Finnell of Nashport, Ohio, Donald & Elizabeth Finnell of Johnstown, Ohio and Larry Finnell of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; sister, Betty Hook of Heath, Ohio; grandchildren, Shelley Sams and Michael Surber; great granddaughter, Rachel Sams; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, sisters-in-law and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2008 at Nein - Barnes Funeral Home - 249 North Main Street - Camden, Ohio with Rev. Trevor Bridgeford officiating. Internment will be held at Fairmount Cemetery in Camden, Ohio with military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Monday, March 10, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of ones's choice.
