William H. Wright age 81 of Denver, Colorado and formerly of Castle Rock, Colorado died Sunday afternoon, December 22, 2002 at the Denver Veteran’s Administration Hospital - Comfort Care Unit. Born on May 20, 1921 in Crawfordsville, Indiana, he was the son of the late Clyde H. & M. Ella Carr Wright. He was a 1939 Anderson Indiana High School graduate. In 1967 he retired after 23 years as a U.S. Army Master Sergeant. He had served during W.W. II and the Korea War and was a Military Science Instructor for Denver Public Schools. Member of American Legion Post #1, Veterans of Foreign War Post # 2461 and Life Member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 02461 all of Denver. Rakkasans - The 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team Association; 40/8 La Societe Des 40 Hommes Et 8 Chevauk - Locale # 97 of Colorado; Retired Enlisted Association. Preceded in death by Wife: Carol Joan (Mills) Wright in 1992; Granddaughter: Teresa R. Wright in 1999.
Survivors: Sons & Daughters-In-Law: Stephen C. & Betty Wright of Thornton, Colorado; William A. & Mary Wright of Pueblo, Colorado and Victor E. Wright of Denver, Colorado. Daughters & Son-In-Law: Helen L. Shafer of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Rayna E. & Bruce L. Barnes of Eaton, Ohio. Brother & Sister-In-Law: Martin & Jay Wright of Anderson, Indiana. Special Cousin: Elizabeth Bryant of Anderson, Indiana. Grandchildren: Michelle M. & A. Patrick Gropp; Jeannette Wright; C. Scott Wright & Antonia V. Garcia; Michael H. & Darlene R. Barnes; William W. & Julianna Barnes; Julie A. Barnes; Carol M. Wright; William B. Wright and Mark & Pascale Shafer. Great Grandchildren: Elizabeth A. Wright, Jessica R. Holweger Gropp, Kathryn C. Gropp, Scott J. Wright, Bri Ana J. Garcia, Mitchell K. Shafer and Madelyn N. Shafer.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 27th, 2002 - 11:00 A.M. (MST) at Andrews Caldwell Gibson Funeral Home - 407 Jerry Street - Castle Rock, Colorado. Interment will be held in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Castle Rock, Colorado with Full Military Graveside Services. Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.
