Wilbur E. Hawley

WILBUR E. “PETE” HAWLEY, age 87, of Eaton, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at Heartland of Eaton. Born on October 28, 1918 in Preble County, Ohio. He was the son of the late Samuel S. & Bessie (Smith) Hawley. He was a 1936 Eaton High School graduate and had earned an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology from the University of Dayton. A WW II U.S. Army veteran and member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Eaton, 50 year member of Bolivar Lodge #82 F & A.M. in Eaton, American Legion Post #215 in Eaton, Eaton Country Club and had been active in the Boy Scouts and Little League. He was a member of Eaton City Council and had served as Mayor. He retired in 1974 from Frigidaire in Dayton. Preceded in death by Daughter: Ann Elizabeth Roach in 2001; Brothers: James Custin Hawley, Harold Roger Hawley, Sr., Lloyd D. Hawley, Clifford M. Hawley, Lucien Thurman Hawley and Robert Bruce Hawley; Sisters: Estella May Hawley, Priscilla Leah McDaniel, Ruth Haven Young, Helen Louise Miller and Berenice L. McKee.

Survived by Wife of 64 years: Marilyn A. “Lyn” (McCabe) Hawley; Son & Daughter-in-law: Timothy E. & Christy Hawley, St. Charles, MO; Son-in-law: David W. Roach, Dayton, OH; Sister: Virginia G. Wanner, Spokane, WA; Grandchildren: Lynn K. (Peter) Fogarty, Lara F. Hawley. Nieces & Nephews.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2006 - 10:30 A.M. at Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main Street - Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Steven Cann officiating. Interment will be held in Mound Hill Union Cemetery in Eaton with full military honors by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Friday, March 24, 2006 from 4 - 7 P.M. at the funeral home with Masonic Services at 7:00 P.M.
