Weston N. Hammel

Weston N. Hammel, 89, of Lewisburg, OH, died Friday, February 10, 2017 at Brookhaven Nursing and Rehabilitation in Brookville, OH. Born on March 10, 1927 in Dayton, OH he was the son of the late Emerson O. & Grace E. (McNutt) Hammel. Wes was a 1945 Lewisburg Union High graduate and was the class Valedictorian. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. A 1952 graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a BAA Degree. In 1988 he retired after 40 years of service as the Industrial Accountant with Delco Products. Member of Lewisburg United Methodist Church.

Preceded in death by a son: Brett L. Hammel in 1964; son-in-law: Gregory Lee Wolf in 2009; brother: Noel Emerson Hammel in 1989 and step-mother: Gladys Hammel in 1999.

Survived by wife of 68 years: Violet "Vi" (Strothman) Hammel; daughter: Marla Kay Hammel Wolf of Berea, Ohio. Family will receive friends 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Barnes Funeral Home, 411 N. Commerce St., Lewisburg, OH. The funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with the burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery – West Alexandria, OH.
