Wendell Murray, Sr., 75 longtime resident of Somerville, Ohio passed away peacefully at home with his family after an extended illness on Monday, August 29, 2016. Born on December 21, 1940 in Jackson County, Kentucky son of the late, Herman & Cleo (Moore) Murray. Wendell was a 1959 graduate of Hamilton High School. Wendell was employed by Mosler Safe Company for over 30 years. He was a York Rite Master Mason belonging to the Oxford Lodge #67 and the Washington Lodge #17. Past President of the Mosaco Retirement Lodge. Wendell enjoyed many loving pets and his Native American Heritage. He was an avid Artist.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Glendon Murray in 1998; sister, Gladys Marie McWhorter in 2004; loving grandson, Connor Ray Gabbard in 1998; loving great grandson, Carter Wayne Davidson in 2012.
Survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy (DeBolt) Murray; three sons, Tim (Tammy) Murray, John (Paula) Murray and Wendell R. (Joanna) Murray; three daughters, Shari (Gary) Brown, Joetta (Dan) Gabbard and Kelly (Doug) Small; one sister, Mary Lee Robinson; ten loving grandchildren, Tera, Geoffrey, Rachel, Laura, Morgan, Hannah, Linzie, Jarrod, Samantha, Kevin and Jacob; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; two sister-in-laws, Deanna and Peggy; two dear friends, Barney and Hugh; many other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Somerville Community Church, 207 Walnut Street, Somerville, Ohio with Pastor Edward Brown officiating. Fellowship will begin at 11:00 AM prior to the Service and a Luncheon held after the service.
Arrangements entrusted to Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main St., Eaton, Ohio 45320.
