Wayne Hampton, age 85 of New Paris, OH entered into the Presence of Our Lord and Savior on Friday, February 7, 2014. He was born on December 17, 1928 in Letcher County, KY the son of the late James & Ranie (Back) Hampton and raised in Clay County, KY being one of eighteen children. Wayne retired in 1990 from Ralston Purina in Richmond after 39 years of service. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of New Paris, OH and currently attended the Eldorado Baptist Church. In August 1962 he was ordained as a deacon being the first deacon ordained by the First Baptist Church in New Paris holding the position of Chairman of the Deacons for many years. He loved his Lord, his family and his church. An avid sports fan especially of the Cincinnati Reds and University of Kentucky basketball he loved watching any sport his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were playing. Famous for his gardening prowess especially his "Hampton Tomatoes". Preceded in death by eleven brothers and two sisters.

Survived by wife of 63 years: Orpha (Benge) Hampton; Children: Donna Hampton, Ken & Sherry Hampton; Becky Hampton and Lori Hampton all of New Paris, OH; sisters: Topsy Groce of Indianapolis IN and Maxine Brown of Barbourville, KY; brothers: Henry Clay Hampton of Richmond, IN and David D. Hampton of New Madison, OH; grandchildren: Andrea Hampton & Mike Pierce, Molly & Rich Urbancic, Allison & Reggie Osborne and Brad & Brittani Hampton; 10 great grandchildren; Many church friends and special friends Ralph Douglas and Howard Shump.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Barnes Funeral Home – 109 West Main Street New Paris, OH. A celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Barnes Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Moler officiating. Interment will be in Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris, OH.
