WAN OLIF FOUST, age 87, of New Paris, Ohio, died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at his residence in New Paris, Ohio. Born on April 10, 1922 in West Manchester, Ohio, son of the late Robert R. & Laura D. (Lynch) Foust. He graduated in 1940 from Jefferson High School in New Paris, Ohio. Although having a shattered ankle from a tree topping accident, he volunteered and proudly served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1943, during World War II as a Private. Wan had worked for 20 years at Wayne Dairy and he was a Self-employed Landscaper for 30 years. Wan also had worked for Jefferson Township for several years. Wan also was a very helpful and charitable person, helping many people with their yards, home maintenance and car work. Wan loved gardening and his family dearly. Member of the American Legion, Clarence Teaford Post # 360 in New Paris, Ohio. Member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Preceded by his wife of 56 years, Evelyn Anna "Bobbie" (Freidline) Foust in 1998; son, Shawn D. Foust in 2001; brothers, Edward G. Foust in 1982, Lowell A. Foust in 1933, Eldon R. Foust in 1985, Venice Foust in 1995, Ivan M. Foust in 2006, Freble Foust and Johnny Ray Foust.
Survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Cynthia Jo (Foust) & A. Randall Monday of Liberty, Kentucky; son & daughter-in-law, Michael S. & Kathleen (Hoffman) Foust of Kissimmee, Florida; brothers, Robert R. Foust, Jr. of Richmond, Indiana and Wiley F. Foust of New Paris, Ohio; sisters, Darlene Arnold of New Paris, Ohio, Rose Mary Myers and Ramona Gallo both of Richmond, Indiana; grandchildren, Shawn Michael Foust, Patrick Christopher Foust, Jacquilan Foust all of California, Molly Ann Foust Chimko of Ithaca, New York, Caroline Leigh Foust of Kissimmee, Florida, Michael Shawn Foust of Tallahassee, Florida and Abrigal Jo Foust of Florida State Univeristy in Tallahassee, Florida; great granddaughter, Georgia Fe Aguilar Foust of Kissimmee, Florida; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, Ohio with Rev. Reggie Osborne officiating. Interment will be held at Spring Lawn Cemetery with Full Military Honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
