WALTER FRANKLIN WARD, age 61, of West Alexandria, Ohio died Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio. Born on July 2, 1942 in Van Lear, Kentucky, he was preceded in death by father Charles Ward, Mother Lillian (Jackson-Ward-Boyd) and stepfather, Elmer Boyd. A resident of Preble County since 1954, he was a 1960 graduate of Lanier High School, attended Miami-Jacobs College and graduated from Park College with a degree in business management. He was a Vietnam War Veteran and a member of the Eaton American Legion. A member of the Daguerreian Society, Preble County Chess Club, Rolls Royce Society and several other organizations. Mr. Ward was the owner and operator of Ward Photo Express in Eaton, Ohio.
Survived by his fiancee Dottie Campbell of Eaton, Ohio; Brother and Sister-in-law: Charles “Bud” and Brenda Ward of New Lebanon, Ohio; Sisters and Brothers-in-law: Dora( Boyd) and Jerry Angst of Springfield, Ohio, Alice Boyd of West Alexandria, Ohio and Nancy(Boyd) and Jim Hannah of Lewisburg, Ohio; Uncle and Aunt: Carlos and Millie Ward of New Lebanon, Ohio. Many Nieces and Nephews and Cousins.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 13, 2004 at Fairview Cemetery- St. Rt. 503 South of West Alexandria, Ohio with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Gurard. A Remembrance Celebration will be held at the American Legion Hall on St. Rt. 503 South of West Alexandria for family and friends immediately following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Preble County Historical Society-Swartzel Road-Eaton, Ohio 45320. Arrangements entrusted to Barnes Funeral Home - Eaton, Ohio.
