WALTER E. DAVIES, age 87, of New Paris, Ohio died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. Born on July 26, 1922 in New Castle, Indiana, he was the son of the late Walter & Nettie Irene (Sinck) Davies. Walter graduated in 1941from Jefferson High School and attended Angola College in Indiana. Walter proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. Walter was an Electrician for many years and member of the I. B. E. W. Local Union in Muncie, Indiana. Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in New Paris, Ohio. Member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Ohio. Member of the Shriners of Dayton, Ohio. Past Board of Public Affairs of New Paris. Member of the American Legion Post #360 in New Paris. Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star of New Paris. Member of the Kentucky Colonels.
Preceded by his 1st wife, Frances R. (Nine) Davies in 1989; sister, Phyllis Ann Davies in 2001; grandson, Matthew Brian Henderson in 1973;great granddaughter, Courtney Henderson
Survived by his wife of 15 years, M. Jean Davies of New Paris; sons & daughters-in-law, Richard E. & Deborah Davies and W. Edward & Pamela J. Davies all of New Paris; daughters & sons-in-law, Deborah L. & Richard Cheeseman of Eaton, Ohio and Diana L. & Gregg Schutte of Richmond, Indiana; grandchildren, Trent A. Voiles, Chad D. Voiles, Derek P. Davies, Micah & Stefany (George) Davies, Joshua & Mandy (Patton) Davies, C. Christopher & Stephanie (Radford) Wright, Adam Jacob Schutte, MSG David L. & Carla (Lodge) Henderson, Loren J. & Mandy (Thomas) Bishop, Angela L. Bishop Marino, Petty Officer 3rd Class Michael S. & Kacee (Fegan) Bishop and Erica N. Cheeseman; great grandchildren, Fletcher, Haydn, Sawyer, Matthew, Caitlin, Taylor, Colton, Caden, Jarred, Skylar, Jadyn, Tyler, Donnie and Skyann; several cousins and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, Ohio with Pastor Adam Rinehart officiating. Interment will be held at Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris, Ohio with Full Military Honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 and one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Masonic Services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the funeral home.
