Virginia R. Smith

Virginia R. Smith, age 95 of Eaton, OH died Friday, March 11, 2016 at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton, OH. Born on December 4, 1920 in Marion, OH she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Nancy (Skidmore) Wheeler. Virginia was a 1937 graduate of Radnor High School and attended Office Training School in Columbus and Otterbein College. She married Guy E. Smith in July 1942 in Delaware, OH. He preceded her in death in June 1987. At one time she and her husband owned and she managed the Delaware Credit Bureau. Virginia had a secretarial career including the Texas Oil Company, McCloskey Shipyard in Tampa, Florida, Jackson School in Campbellstown (Preble County, OH) and retired from Miami University in 1976. She and her husband had lived in College Corner for several years, member of the New Hope United Methodist Church and former member of Chattering Stitches of College Corner.

Survivors include son: Gene Smith and daughter Rebecca Smith both of Eaton; sister: Betty Oby of North Canton, OH; sister-in-law: Ruby Smith of Ashley, OH and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 15, 2016 and one hour prior to the funeral at Barnes Funeral Home 220 East Main Street Eaton, OH. The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mound Hill Cemetery – Eaton, OH.
