Viola P. Maxel, 84, formerly of Eldorado, OH passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at Oakley House, Greenville, following a lingering illness. She was born September 7, 1920 in Falmouth, Ky., and was the daughter of Harry & Jennie Gardiner.
On May 10, 1941, Viola married Delmar C. Maxel. To this union was born a son, Darrell Eugene, and a daughter, Naomi Ruth, each of whom died when only a few days old. Viola was a housewife and a hard worker, who loved her flower garden. She was a member of the Castine Church of the Brethren.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died August 14, 1999; her children; a sister Blanche Evans, and a brother Lloyd Gardiner. Survivors include her sister Kathryn Pence and sister-in-law Veda Gardiner, both of New Paris; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Mary Hohlt of Arcanum.
The Funeral Service for Viola P. Maxel will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 15th at the Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, 311 N. Main St., Eldorado, OH, with Pastor Gary Cloyd officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria, OH. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday. If desired, Memorial Donations may be made to the Castine Church of the Brethren or State of the Heart (Hospice of Darke County). Condolences may be sent via Guest Book at www.barnesfuneralhome.com.
