Vernon Winkler

Vernon Winkler, age 84 of New Paris, OH, died on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Heartland of Eaton. Born on October 19, 1923 in Panola, KY he was the son of the late Alfred E. & Martha (French) Winkler. Vernon was a W.W. II U.S. Army veteran and was a self employed Appliance Repairman. He had also worked at Holthouse - Heilig Meyers Furniture in Richmond, IN and The Richmond Apothecary. Member of the Masonic Lodge - Fellowship #106 in New Paris, First United Methodist Church in Richmond and a volunteer worker for the Preble County Pork Festival. Preceded in death by a sister: Geneva Hisle in 2006.

Survivors include: wife of 45 years Alice Jean (Haselwander) Winkler; son & daughter-in-law: Larry Ray & Lois Winkler of New Paris, OH; daughters & sons-in-law: Christine Fay Winkler of Beavercreek, OH, Sarah Jo Coffey of New Paris, OH; Cynthia Ann & Thomas Delucio of Richmond, IN. Brothers Alfred E. Winkler Jr. of Liberty, IN and Jennings Winkler of Brownsville, IN. Sisters: Anna French of Richmond, KY; Margaret Richardson of Miamisburg, OH; and Ina Ruth Bogie of Franklin, OH.; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, March 3, 2008 at Barnes Funeral Home - 109 West Main Street - New Paris, OH with Rev. Cheryl Garbe officiating. Interment will be held in Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 2, 2008 from 3 to 6 P.M. at the funeral home. Masonic services will be on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at 5:45 PM at the funeral home.
