Velma Mae Cooper Major

VELMA MAE COOPER-MAJOR, age 92, of Camden, OH, passed away Friday October 30, 2009 at Woodland Country Manor near Sommerville, OH. Born on March 6, 1917 in Morning View, Campbell County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland & Maggie May (Baker) Baker. Velma was a cook retiring in 1979 from the Camden School District. Member of the First Southern Baptist Church at Camden, American Legion Auxiliary #377 and V.F.W Post 1577 of Camden, OH. Preceded in death by her first husband, Albert C. Cooper on October 31, 1984, brother Grover Leroy Baker and grandson, Keith Alan Cain.

Survived by her husband, Dale Phenis Major of twenty years. Daughter and son-in-law, Janet M. & Keith Cain of Marana, AZ. Sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald C. & Patsy Cooper of Fresno, CA and Wayne A. & Mary Cooper of Camden, OH. Step daughters and spouse, Dixie A. Graham and Penny Major both of Washington Court House, OH and Jolene & Willie Allen of Camden, OH. Stepsons and spouse, Dale P. Major of Washington Court House, OH and Randy J. & Sue Major of KY. Nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Three nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday November 3, 2009 at the First Southern Baptist Church, 35 North Liberty Street, Camden, OH with Rev Greg Jackson officiating. Interment will be held in Fairmount Cemetery at Camden, OH. Family will receive friends on Monday, November 2, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Nein- Barnes Funeral Home, 249 North Main Street, Camden, OH with V.F.W services at 7:00 p.m. Additional calling will be at the church one hour prior to services.
