Veda Vaye Overton

Veda Vaye (Lambdin) Overton, 87, of Englewood, OH, formerly of Jellico, TN and Lafollette, TN passed away December 21, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton surrounded by loving family. She was valedictorian of her Jellico High School class of 1947, a devoted wife, loving mother, and full-time homemaker. She was a seamstress, avid gardener, mighty prayer warrior and a published author of original poetry. Veda was a born-again Christian since November 2, 1980 (Grace Baptist Church, Ludlow Falls, OH) and was baptized on August 22, 1982 in the Stillwater River by Rev. David St. John and Rev. Ted Mullins. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church, Englewood, OH. Veda was preceded in death by husband of 44 years: Carl Clifford Overton in 1992; father, James Franklin Lambdin; mother, Maude Naomi (Rookard) Lambdin; brother, Charles Raymond Lambdin; sister, Freeda Davis; brother, Jay Lambdin; sister, Martha Ashcraft.

Survived by son, Gary Overton of West Alexandria, OH; daughter, Lynette (Ted) Mullins of Centerville, TN; son, Kelly F. (Marsha) Overton of Dayton, OH; son, Boyd (Betsy) Overton of Vandalia, OH; special niece-more like a sister to us, Judy Kay Parrott; grandchildren: Jeremy (Melissa) Mullins; Brian (Melissa) Overton; Melanie (Kevin) McGovern; great grandchildren: Shelby Lyn Mullins, Savannah Vaye Mullins, Finnegan Mullins, Maria Celeste Overton, Lux Arienne Lorena McGovern, and many special nieces and nephews, along with a host of dear friends. Heartfelt thanks from the family to Cypress Pointe Nursing Home, Englewood, OH and Hospice of Dayton for their loving care.
