Vaughn D. Riegel

Vaughn D. Riegel, 86, of New Paris, OH, died Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN. Born on November 17, 1927 in Ansonia, OH, he was the son of the late Chester A. & Clara (Maphis) Riegel. Vaughn retired in 2008 as Owner-Operator of Riegel Feed & Grain in New Paris, OH. He was a 1945 graduate of Jackson High School (Darke County), U.S. Army veteran and Life Member of American Legion Post #360 in New Paris. Member of the Kiwanis Club in New Paris, had attended Manchester College in North Manchester, IN, Played in the First Division U.S. Army Band and was a longtime Cattleman and Farmer.

Preceded in death by his Wife: Norma Jane (Scott) Riegel in 1993; Brothers: Jack Riegel and Robert F. Riegel; Sisters: Jean Riegel and Betty Polley Dittman in 2012.

Survivors include a Daughter & Son-in-law: Kayleen N. & John P. Dunker, Eaton, OH; Sons & Daughters-in-law: Lavon A. & Patti Riegel, Louisville, KY, Dwight D. Riegel, New Paris, OH and Kevin B. Riegel, Greenville, OH; Sister: Patty (George) Jenkins, Walton, KY; 9 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren; special friend: Carolyn Race of New Paris, OH.

Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Barnes Funeral 109 West Main Street, New Paris, OH. The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris with full Military Honors by the Preble County Honor Guard.
