"Tiny" Shilts

V. Gayle “Tiny” Shilts, age 84, of New Paris, Ohio, died Wednesday December 1, 2004 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. Born on January 11, 1920 in Richmond, Indiana, he was the son of the late Walter Herman & Mabel (Maurice) Shilts.

Tiny served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II; formerly he worked at Natco in Richmond, Indiana for 19 years and retired in 1983 from Plastic Machinery in Eaton, Ohio after 6 years of service. Preceded in death by a son: Walter P. “Wally” Shilts in 2003; brothers: Willard and Robert Shilts.

Survived by his wife of 29 years: Elsie M. (Thomas) Shilts; son and daughter-in-law: Richard A. “Dick” & Carol Shilts of Kalamazoo, Michigan; daughters & sons-in-law: Judy & Frank Henn of New Paris, Ohio, Becky & Roger Ashenfelter of Three Rivers, Michigan; step daughter: Patty Andrews of New Paris, Ohio; step son and wife: Jimmy & Vikki Shonkwiler of Muskegon, Michigan; sister: Betty Noble of Verona, Ohio; sister-in-law: Lois Shilts of Los Angeles, California. Fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral service with be held Sunday, December 5, 2004 - 4:00 p.m. at Barnes Funeral Home - 109 West Main Street - New Paris, Ohio with Pastor Joel Heron officiating. Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 5, 2004 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Springlawn Cemetery at New Paris, Ohio with Full Military graveside services provided by the Preble County Honor Guard at the convenience of the family.
