Thurman E. Schreel

THURMAN E. SCHREEL, age 89, of Lewisburg, OH died Sunday, September 5, 2004 at Heartland of Eaton. Born on August 27, 1915 in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late Charles T. and Nelle (Lightcap) Schreel. He was 1933 graduate of Lewisburg Union High School and was a W.W. II U.S. Army AirCorps veteran having received the bronze star and was a member of the 56th fighter group Zemke’s Wolf Pack. He was part owner of CT Schreel and Sons formerly of Lewisburg and served with the Lewisburg Fire Department for 67 years where he had been Assistant Fire Chief for several years. He served on the board of directors for the Peoples Banking Co. and First National Bank of Southwestern Ohio both of Lewisburg. Member of the American Legion Post 213 of Lewisburg, 50 year member of the Libanus Masonic Lodge # 80 of Lewisburg, Scottish Rite-Valley of Dayton, Antioch Shrine of Dayton, Taram Shrine of Richmond, IN , Preble County Shrine Club, Antioch Antique Car Club, A.A.C.A -Southern Ohio Chapter and the Lewisburg United Methodist Church.

Survived by wife of 63 years: R. Geraldean “Jerry” (Ludy) Schreel; Daughter: C. Jane Baker of Lewisburg; Son and Daughter-in-law: J . Fred and Nora Schreel of Dayton; Brother: Robert Schreel and Sister: Mildred Henne both of Lewisburg. Three Grandchildren and Four Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 9, 2004, at Barnes Funeral Home - 411 North Commerce Street - Lewisburg, OH with Rev. Michael D. Pratt officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg, OH with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 8, 2004, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Masonic Services will be held at 7:45 P.M.
