Thelma May (Hoghe) Wermer, age 85, of Eaton, Ohio died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Kettering Medical Center in Kettering, Ohio. Born on April 13, 1922 in Van Wert, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Earle Clinton & Sylvia May (Parker) Hoghe. She graduated in 1940 from Ohio City High School Liberty Township, Ohio. In addition to living in Ohio City, Van Wert and Preble, County, Ohio she also lived in Angola, Indiana for nine years. Thelma worked at Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. and Aeroquip.
Thelma was a member of several organizations in Van Wert, Ohio which included, Methodist Church, Past President of the Business & Professional Women's Club, American Legion Auxiliary Post 40 & 8, Toast Masters Club, Traffic Safety Program in memory of her two daughters, Campfire Girls of America and Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority.
Thelma was also a member of several organizations in the Preble County area which included, Sugar Valley Methodist Church, Scope Program of Preble County, 1993-1994 Scope Queen of Preble County, Lakengren Garden Club. Thelma & Russell loved Western Style Square Dancing for 30 years.
Preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Russell Lowell Wermer in 2000; daughters, Sharon Louise Wermer and Teresa Ann Wermer who died in an auto accident in 1968; brother, Albert Clinton Hoghe; sister, Evelyn G. Clouse.
Survived by daughter & son-in-law, Lucinda Faye & Robert Coveney of Eaton, Ohio; son & daughter-in-law, Kevin Lowell & Amy Wermer of Medina, Ohio; sister, Sylvia M. Hoghe of Van Wert, Ohio; grandchildren, Scarlet (Jason), Andrew, Shannon, Tyler, and Lauryn; great grandchildren, Savanah and Blake; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 29, 2008 at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio with Rev. George Copus officiating. Family will receive friends on Friday, February 29, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, Ohio.
