Sylvia Herbst

SYLVIA “STOCKSLAGER” HERBST, of Eaton, OH, died Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at the Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton, Ohio. Born in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late John & Nancy Jane (Border) Stockslager. A resident of Preble County since 1928, she and her husband were the owners and operators of Acton Meat Market for several years. She had also worked at Miller Supermarket. She had resided at her residence on Eaton-Lewisburg Road until 1996. She is preceded in death by her husband: Herbert H. Herbst in 1997; Sisters: Lona Stockslager, Pearl Shinn, Ethel Brumbaugh, and Sue Huddle and Brother: Sherman Stockslager.

She is survived by her Daughter and Son-in-law: Nancy Jane and Alan Thomas of Eagan, Minnesota; Brother: Roy Stockslager of Eaton, Ohio; Sister-in-law: Marguerite Sanders of Eaton, Ohio; Grandson: Brad Thomas of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2002 - 1:00 P.M. at Barnes Funeral Home-220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Robert Caplinger officiating. Interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery in West Alexandria. Family will receive friends on Monday, December 16, 2002 from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
