Susan Jeanette Shafer - Lafuze

Susan Jeanette Shafer – LaFuze, age 100 of Eaton, Ohio, died Monday, January 15, 2024 in Eaton. Born on April 17, 1923 in Dixon Township, Preble County, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Stanley A. and Ruth Marie (Rumley) Buriff.

Jeanette had worked for ARA Vending Service at Parker Hannifin and Dayton Flex in Eaton. She took care of the accounting for Ozark Stables, their family’s harness horse racing business. Jeanette was a great housewife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a 1941 Dixon High School graduate and a member of the Eaton Methodist Church for over 50 years.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her Husbands: James H. Shafer and Earl T. LaFuze; Brother: Carl Leroy Buriff; Stepson: Brian LaFuze.

Survived by her Children: Dr. Steven E. Shafer, Rita J. (David) Roberts, and Carol Ann (Chris) McWhinney; Sister: Louise Calhoun; Step Daughter: Marcia (Burke) Thomas; Step Daughter-in-law: Jane LaFuze; 13 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio with Pastor John S. Richards and her grandchildren officiating. Inurnment will be held in Mound Hill Cemetery, Eaton at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
