Simon Paul Lay

Simon Paul Lay age 81 of Camden, Somers Township, Ohio died on Friday, April 29, 2016 at Otterbein at Middletown in Middletown, Ohio. Born on April 26, 1935 in Harlan, KY he was the son of the late Roscoe C. & Goldie (Wilson) Lay. Simon served in the U.S. Army and retired from Mosler Safe in Hamilton. Member of the American Legion of Camden, V.F.W. of Camden, Eagles Lodge of Gratis and the Moose Lodge in Middletown, OH. Preceded in death by wife of 47 years: Joyce K. (Bown) Lay in 2005; daughter: Tammy Lay in 1959; brother: James Lay in 2000; sisters: Joyce Ruth Gilbert in 2014 and Jennila Haynes in 1968; son-in-law: Monte Hale in 2011; granddaughter: Kathryn Ruth Ellen Lay died 1995; father & mother-in-law: John & Clara Bown.

Survivors include his children: John & Tracy Lay of Franklin, OH; Greg & Robyn Lay of Middletown, OH; Jeff & Debbie Lay of Camden, OH and Brenda Hale of Gratis, OH; 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, Nieces & Nephews.

Family will receive friends 11:00 to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 and the funeral service 1:00 PM at Barnes Funeral Home – 220 East Main Street – Eaton, OH with Rev. Trevor D.
