Ruth Eileen Buckley

Ruth “Eileen” Long Buckley, 92 of Richmond, In. died on Friday morning, September 29, 2023, at Forest Park Health in Richmond. Ruth was born on June 18, 1931, the daughter of the late Glen G. and Dortha Mae (Stout) Long. She had worked Earlham College in the College Bookstore for many years, Birt’s Sewing Center, and John’s Custom Framing all in Richmond. She was an excellent seamstress, creating men’s suits, wedding dresses and more for her family and friends. She loved flower gardening, crafts and traveling.

Preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Roland Irvin Buckley, Sr in 2022 and granddaughter: Allysa E. Ponder in 2023; brother: Edward Long and baby sister: Imogene “Genie” Long.

Survivors include her children: Mike (Karla) Buckley of Williamsburg, Indiana; Roland (Deborah) Buckley of Richmond, Indiana; Timothy Buckley of Michigan City, Indiana, Laura (Mike) Rumer of Swansea, Illinois, and Linda (Steve) Girdler of Richmond, Indiana. Grandchildren: Cammie (Josh) Delph of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Royce Buckley of Richmond, Indiana, Jennifer (David) Jarrett of Avon, Indiana, Shannon Rumer and Michele Rumer both of Missouri and Nicole McDaniel of Liberty, Indiana. Several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister: Marjorie Hemmer of Naples, Florida and sister-in-law: Sandra Long of Greenfield, Indiana.

A service will be held at the convenience of the family with burial at Earlham Cemetery. The family would like to thank Forest Park Health care for their kindness and wonderful care of Eileen. Arrangements entrusted to Barnes Funeral Home – New Paris, OH.
