Russell Lowell Fisher, 86, of Tri Lakes, died Tuesday morning, September 24, 2013 at his home. He had been in failing health. He was born August 25, 1927 in Spring Grove, Indiana a son of Preston B. and Elizabeth C. (Miller) Fisher. His formative years were spent in Richmond. He graduated from Richmond High School and attended Earlham College. From 1945 until 1948 he served in the United States Navy Air Corps. In 1951 he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Cail. They made their home in Richmond until 1956 when they moved to New Castle. In 1968 they moved to Muncie until 1972 when they moved to the Columbia City area. In 1986 they moved to their home on Big Cedar Lake. Mrs. Fisher died February 9, 2003. From 1957 until 1977 he worked for Investors Diversified Services and from 1977 until his retirement in August 2006 he was a self-employed financial advisor.
Surviving relatives include a sister, Eris Hoover.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Avis and infant sister, Melba June.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Barnes Funeral Home in New Paris, Ohio with visitation from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The burial will be in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris, Ohio with military honors presented. Visitation will also be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, Indiana.
Preferred memorials are to League for the Blind & Disabled of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
