RUSSELL F. "RUSS" TEIGLER, 87, of Lewisburg, OH, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, OH. Russ was born on April 3, 1924 in Dayton, OH, son of the late George Herman and Edris Ellen (Gray) Teigler. In 1977 Russ retired from NCR in Dayton after 37 years of service. Following his retirement he worked at Wagner Wood and Lumber in Dayton, Quality Glass Co. of Dayton, Snyder Brick and Block of Dayton and Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg. Russ was a veteran of WWII, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and drove for General Patton. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 213 of Lewisburg and the V.F.W. Post # 9927 of Kettering, OH. Russ was a Free and Accepted Mason for over 60 years and was a member of the Libanus Lodge # 80 F & AM in Lewisburg; the Antioch Shrine of Dayton and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. He was a member of the Lewisburg First United Church of Christ in Lewisburg and the Scrollsaw Association, Miami Valley Club. Russ loved to sing and was a member of the Dayton Metro Barbershop Choir; the NCR Chorus; The Frigidaire Chorus; the Centerville Barbershop Chorus; The Shrine Canters and he lent his voice to many of the Lewisburg area churches choir's.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Mark A. Teigler in 2001.
Russ is survived by his wife of 9 years, Mary M.(Cline) Teigler; son, David Teigler; sister and brother-in-law, Thelma E. & Charles Schmermund of Greenville, OH; step-children, Alan D.(Tamy) Farwell of Hainesville, AL; Kenneth J. Farwell of Stafford, VA and Jean M. (Craig) Hortsman of Lewisburg; 4 step-grandchildren and 1 step-great grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Funeral and Masonic Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Barnes Funeral Home, 411 N. Commerce St., Lewisburg, Ohio 45338 with Rev. David O. Justis officiating. Interment with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard will be held in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
