Roger S. Blankenship, Sr., 87, of Lewisburg, Ohio, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Hospice of Dayton. Born on April 29, 1934, in Montgomery County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Walter E. & Martha H. (Rice) Blankenship. Roger retired in 1997 after 42 years with Lewisburg Container in Lewisburg. He was a 1954 Lewisburg Union High School graduate, a U.S. Army veteran, member of Libanus Lodge #80 F &AM, Grand Lodge of F. & A.M. of Ohio Camden Lodge #159, 50 plus year member of The Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio Eaton #22, Grand Council Royal & Select Masons of Ohio - Preble Council #135, Knights Templar Eye Foundation, Inc – Valley Commandery #80 – Miamisburg, OhioJerusalem Commandery #75 of Eaton, Dayton Antioch Shrine – mounted patrol, 50 plus year member of Blue Lodge in Eaton.
Roger was active in singing in many barber shop quartets in the area and sang in the church choir as a tenor, assistant Boy Scouts leader, he showed horses and ponies for many years, member of American Legion Post #665 in West Manchester, Ohio where he served as Second Vice President, served on the Lewisburg Park Board and had coached teams over the years, worked for the Harrison Township Trustees at the cemetery and worked for Barnes Funeral Homes, Inc.
Preceded in death by Wife of 61 years: Mildred Ann (Protzman) Blankenship in 2018, Son: Robin Wayne Blankenship in 1962, Daughter-in-law: Darla Blankenship in 2012, Siblings: Janice Thomas, Walter E. Blankenship, Kenneth W. Blankenship, Bruce Gene Blankenship, Joseph H. Blankenship, Marvin A. Blankenship and Melissa Sue Norvell.
Survived by his Children: Roger S. “Bud” (Martie) Blankenship, Jr., Daniel E. “Dan” (Lisa) Blankenship, Vicki Lynn (Kip) Gilmer and Mary Ann Phelps; Siblings: Edward “Steve” Blankenship, David Blankenship, June Ellen Blankenship and Ondalea Keppel, 10 Grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.
In Memory and Celebration of Roger S Blankenship, Sr., his family will be hosting a Service and Fellowship time at the Lewisburg Community Center, on Friday April 29, 2022, at 6:30 pm,
followed by a time for fellowship with light refreshments. Please join us.
