Robert W. "Spud" Moore

Robert W. "Spud" Moore, 85, of Brookville, OH, and formerly of Eaton, OH, died Friday, August 19, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton. Born on June 12, 1931 in Preble County, OH, he was the son of the late Franklin Walker & Mamie Ethel (Houser) Moore. Robert was a 1949 graduate of Eaton High School, where he was a member of the 1948 Golden Eagles State Championship Basketball team. He was a United States Navy veteran during the Korean Conflict and was retired from Delco-Moraine in Dayton, OH, where he was a Union Committeeman. Robert was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 3288 in Brookville; the American Legion Post 762 in New Lebanon, OH and the AMVETS. He loved to refinish furniture, fish and spend time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Coy, Ernest, Edmund, Ralph, Irvin, William, Willard, Lawrence and Thomas Moore; sisters, Pauline Ethridge and Nadine Bevington; special friend of 23 years Brenda King.

Robert is survived by his son and daughter, Vincent B. (Barbara McBain) Moore of Trotwood, OH and Jennifer Landis of Trotwood, OH; brother, Howard W. Moore of Eaton; grandchildren, Amy Jo (Moore)Hudnall, David S. Moore and Nathan Moore; great grandchildren, Vincent Moore, Alex and Aaron Moore, Lucas Riley and Beau and Max Hudnall; great grandson, Sebastian Riley; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, OH with Rev. Lowell T. Spencer officiating. Interment with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard will be held in Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
