Robert L. Harris, Sr.

ROBERT L. HARRIS, SR., 85, of Lewisburg, OH died Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at his home. Born on January 14, 1924 at Lewisburg, OH, he was the son of the late Stanley J. & Mary P. (Mattis) Harris. He retired in 1982 from Chrysler Corporation in Dayton, OH following 30 years of service. He was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran and a life member of the V.F.W. Post # 975 in Lewisburg. Bob served with the Lewisburg Fire Department for 25 years and worked part time for Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lewisburg and the Lewisburg Young at Hearts.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta D. (Hoff) Harris in 1973; second wife, Josephine(Wogoman) Imes Harris in 2009; son, Robert L. Harris, Jr. in 1998; daughter, Marilyn Dempsey in 2007; brothers, Joseph Harris in 1973 and John Harris in 2000. Great Grandson: Dylin Dempsey in 2006.

Survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia & Robert Nieman of Maynardville, TN; step daughters and son-in-law: Janet Turvene of Greenville, OH and Karen & Darrell Vest of Dayton; step-son and daughter-in-law, Paul & Pam Imes of Caseyville, IL; son-in-law, James Dempsey of Lewisburg; daughter-in-law, Cathy Harris of Lewisburg; sister, Pauline Tucker of Kettering, OH; 25 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2009 at Barnes Funeral Home, 411 North Commerce Street, Lewisburg, OH with Rev. Brent L. Cavendish officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg. Family will receive friends on Friday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
