Robert J. "Bob" Eales, age 83 of New Paris, Ohio died Friday, June 18, 2010 at Forest Park Health Campus in Richmond, Indiana. Born on April 20, 1927 in Richmond, Indiana, he was the son of the late William G. & Lorena C. (Wilson) Eales. Bob proudly served in US Navy as an Aviation Boatswain's Mate on the USS Hornet during World War II. After the war Bob graduated in 1947 from Jefferson High School. Bob was the first appointed letter carrier for New Paris and worked for the US Postal Service for 39 years. Board member of the former New Paris Building & Loan, mayor of New Paris for 4 years, member of the New Paris Village Council, Jefferson Township Trustee for 20 years, past president of the Jefferson Township Booster Club, coached Little League baseball, member of the American Legion for 42 years and member of the St. John's Catholic Church in New Paris, Ohio.
Preceded by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy J. (Thompson) Eales in 2001; brothers, Carl, Paul, Raymond and William Eales; sisters, Jeanette Horigan and Kate Bricker.
Survivors include his children, Michele (Robert) Coblentz of Wilmington, Ohio, Jocelyn (Richard) Ross of Greensfork, Indiana, Brad (Jill) Eales and Darren Eales both of New Paris, Ohio; brother, Donald Eales of Colorada Springs, Colorado; sisters, Ruth Elliott and Martha Hopkins all of Richmond, Indiana; grandchildren, Troy (Renee) Ashcraft, Grady (Allison) Coblentz, Adam (Niki) Coblentz, Katelyn Eales; great grandchildren, Logan Ashcraft, Taylor Ashcraft, Wyatt Coblentz and Hudson Coblentz.
Private Family Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 28, 2010 at St. John's Catholic Church, North Spring Street, New Paris, Ohio 45347 with Rev. J. Thomas Fitzsimmons officiating. Interment will be held in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris, Ohio with military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
