Robert E. Hays, Sr.

Robert E. Hays, Sr. age 92, of North Fort Myers, Florida and formerly of Fairhaven (Preble County) Ohio went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, FL. Born on December 4, 1918 in Preble County, Ohio he was the son of the late Willard & Ava (Ramsey) Hays. Robert was a 1936 graduate of Dixon High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II. He was a Israel Township farmer, school bus driver for Dixon-Israel school and retired in 1979 from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. A former member of the Fairhaven Community Church and current member of Northside Baptist Church in North Fort Myers, FL. Preceded in death by Sons: James Stephen Hays in 1947 and John Douglas Hays in 1951. Brother: Wallace Ramsey Hays in 1913; Sisters: Erdine Runyon in 2009 and Roberta Leisure in 1991.

Survived by Wife of 69 years: Vera R. (Williams) Hays; Son: Robert E. "Bobby" Hays, Jr. of North Fort Myers, FL; Daughters & Sons-In-Law: Linda & Randy Fetters of Lakewood Ranch, FL and Kimberly & Ron Stubblefield of Columbus, OH; 2 Grandchildren: Renee Nicole (Ben) Teater of Germany and Erick Hays Crowe of New Hampshire; 2 Great Grandchildren: Makayla and Benson Teater.

Funeral Service will be held 12:00 pm, Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Fairhaven Community Church – 6585 Israel Somers Road Camden, Ohio with Pastor Don Grady officiating. Interment with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard will be in Fairhaven Cemetery, Fairhaven, OH. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
