Robert E. Coblentz age 59 and his Wife, Michele A. Coblentz, 57, of Wilmington, OH, were both killed in a motorcycle/auto accident Wednesday, September 8, 2010 in Polk County, TN.
Robert was born on August 23, 1951 in New Paris, OH, son of the late Harold E. & Martha E. (Hume) Coblentz. He retired in 2008 after 33 years with the Soil & Water Conservation District in Wilmington, OH. He had also worked as a part-time instructor in the agriculture department of Wilmington College. He received multiple honors and distinctions for his work. A 1969 National Trail High School graduate, he earned his Bachelor's Degree in 1973 from Eastern Kentucky University, was a member of the Farm Bureau and Abate Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed farming, riding motorcycles, spending time with his family, helping others and dancing with Michele.
Michele was born on June 11, 1953 in Richmond, IN, daughter of the late Robert J. & Dorothy J. (Thompson) Eales. She retired June of 2010 from Xenia Central Middle School after 26 years of service in education. She served 14 years as a guidance counselor in Xenia, 10 years at East Clinton School District and 2 years at Mary Haven in Lebanon. She received multiple honors and distinctions for her work. A 1971 National Trail graduate, she earned her Bachelor's degree from Wright State University and her Master's Degree from the University of Dayton. She adored her children and grandchildren, enjoyed gardening, helping others with her husband doing humanitarian work in New Orleans & Guatemala, participating in the selection and distribution of the Marine Toys for Tots in Clinton County and dancing with Bob.
Survived by Sons: Grady (Allison) Coblentz, Galloway, OH, Adam (Niki) Coblentz, Wilmington, OH; Grandchildren: Wyatt and Hudson Coblentz. Robert's Brothers: Charles T. (Connie) Coblentz and William D. (Carman) Coblentz, both of Cleveland, TN. Michele's Sister & Brothers: Jocelyn (Richard) Ross, Greensfork, IN; Brad (Jill) Eales and Darren Eales, all of New Paris, OH.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 17, 2010 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 North South St., (Rt. 68) Wilmington, OH., and on Saturday, September 18, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main St., New Paris, OH. The family requests that visitors bring a photo, a note or small momento to be interred with the couple in their final resting place. Internment of the couple will be held in Spring Lawn at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to Barnes Funeral Home, New Paris, Ohio.
