Robert C. Knox, 85 of New Paris, surrounded by his loving wife and family, met his Savior Jesus Christ, face to face on May 26, 2018 after a brief illness. A lifetime resident of New Paris, he was born on June 12, 1932 to the late Olis and Anna (Hankey) Knox. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by four nephews, Billy, Paul, Jimmy and Randy and sister-in-law, Wanda Knox. Robert was a creative and gifted carpenter and artist. He changed the New Paris landscape over the years by building or helping to build over six homes. Robert and his wife Shirley always credited and never forgot Mr. Charlie Freed because circa 1953, Mr. Freed loaned them the money to build their first home on Freed Road. The home still stands today. Robert was also an avid animal lover. Robert worked at the Pennsylvania Railroad for over 30 years and had many diverse interests, but his family is what was most important to him.
He is survived by his wife of 35,215,200 minutes (67 years) Shirley (Wiegand) Knox; four daughters, Cathy (Roger) Alexander, Susan Eason, Deborah Harris, Jayne Knox and honorary daughter, Claudia Toschlog; brothers, Richard Knox and Gene (Jeanne) Knox; sisters, Beatrice Lawrence, Doris Smallwood, Phyllis (Herbert) Turner, Miriam (Edward) Brown and Carol (Wayne) Bowen; grandchildren, Kari (Jeremy) Reynolds, Michelle Alexander, John and Mark Eason, Robert (Kathi) Booher, Chessley Yearwood; 11 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
A Celebration of a Life well lived will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, OH with Pastor Daniel Moses officiating.
