Robert B. Bruns

Robert (Bob) B. Bruns, 87, of Eaton, OH, passed October 9, 2023. He had been a resident of New Paris for many years. Bob was born November 16, 1935, to Joseph and Mabel Bruns, of Oxford, OH, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joann (May) Bruns, after 59 years of marriage, and his sister, Eileen Wurzelbacher. 

Survived by son, Stephen Bruns and his wife, Lisa Lange Bruns, of Eaton, and their children, Andrew Bruns and his wife, Alanna Hickey, and their son, Robert, of Mill Valley, CA; and Molly Bruns and her fiancé, Jack Van Vleck, of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by daughter Susan Schiff and her husband Scott Schiff, of Atlanta, GA, and their children, Sara Janovitz, and her husband, Scott Janovitz, and their children Avett and Nora, of Atlanta, GA; Stuart Schiff, and his wife, Hannah Bruch of Jackson, WY; Spencer Schiff and his wife, Sophie Jacobson, of Crested Butte, CO; and Sydney Schiff of Los Angeles, CA. His sister Verna Miller; sisters-in-laws Norma Smith and Joyce Matthews, and her husband James Matthews, and nieces and nephews also survive him.

Bob was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy and a loyal fan of the Bearcats. He was the owner of New Paris Rexall Pharmacy and worked for many years for Hook’s Drugs and was the first manager of CVS Pharmacy in Eaton. He served as Scoutmaster for New Paris Troop 13, was a long-time member of the Preble County Historical Society Board, poll-worker, and member of the Preble County Democratic Central Committee. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in New Paris, and, later, attended Visitation Catholic Church in Eaton.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 13 at Barnes Funeral Home, Eaton from 10 AM, prior to the funeral service which will commence at noon at the funeral home.
