Robert (Bob) N. Deaton

ROBERT "BOB" N. DEATON 87, of Eaton, Ohio and formerly of Columbus, OH, slept peacefully away Saturday, October 20, 2012 at The Greenbrier Nursing Center in Eaton, OH. He fought a good fight against Parkinson's. Born on August 13, 1925 in Eaton, OH he was the son of the late Newton A. & Emma B. (Brubaker) Deaton. Bob was a 1943 Eaton High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. After his duty with the Navy, he enrolled at The Ohio State University earning a degree in Accounting. He was offered a position with Borden Corporation a position he held for 34 years retiring in 1984. Bob was of a quiet nature, easy going, honest and a Christian. He attended the 1st Community Church in Columbus faithfully. Bob was a lover of classical music, especially opera and symphony, which he had a huge collection. At one time he was a member of "Supers" of Columbus Opera. A Buckeye fan for many years, he and John attended many of the games and tailgating with friends. He is the last of his immediate family. Proceeded in death by brother: Donald N. Deaton in 1995; sisters: Rachel D. Flora in 1997 and Alice M. Geeting in 2004; nephews: Steve Deaton and Allen Geeting. Bob will be missed by his family, friends, neighbors and his church family.

Survived by Nieces: Carol (Larry) Colclasure, Sarah (Jim) Ward; Donna Elliott and Linda (Steve) Hapner; Nephews Jim (Emily) Shank and Byron (JoAnn) Geeting; 18 great nieces & nephews and 7 great great nieces & nephews; Numerous first cousins of whom he was fond; longtime friend John Scurlock his care giver for several years in his fight with Parkinson's; Russell Ford a reliable helper and care giver.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Barnes Funeral Home – 220 East Main Street – Eaton, OH with Pastor Ray Samborsky officiating. Interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery in Gratis, OH. Family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the funeral home.
