Richard L. Benge, age 59, of West Carrollton, OH died peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Thursday, May 4, 2006 at Hospice of Dayton in Dayton, OH. Born on August 8, 1946 in Hamilton, OH the son of the late Frank & Ruth (Martin) Benge of Somerville, OH. Richard grew up in Somerville and attended Talawanda High School in Oxford. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. After his discharge, he attended Wright State University. He retired from Harrison Radiator in 1998 after 31 years of service. Member of and trustee of the Dayton Eagles Club, American Legion and Beaver Valley Lodge #753. He was an avid reader, family historian and enjoyed his family and being a grandparent. Preceded in death by Brother: Roger Benge in 1992.
Survived by his former wife: Christine Benge and their two daughters: Valerie (Ike) Imhof and Victoria (Gary) Reed both of West Carrollton, OH Grandchildren: Adam Reed, Ryan Imhof, Owen Imhof and Olivia Reed. Brothers: Frank Benge of Somerville, OH; Lee (Joan) Benge of West Minster, CA; and Ron (Patsy) Benge of Santa Claus, IN Sisters: Connie (Patsy) Bryant of Carroll, OH; Rev. Lynda (Ben) Woodard of Lexington, KY and Debra (Tim) Wyatt of Fairfield, OH.
Funeral service will be Saturday, May 6, 2006 – 2:00 P.M. at Nein – Barnes Funeral Home – 249 North Main Street – Camden, Ohio with Rev. Lynda Woodard and Pastor Tye Choate officiating. Family will receive friends on Friday, May 5, 2006 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Somerville Cemetery - Somerville, Ohio with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton (Memorial Garden Stone) – 324 Wilmington Ave – Dayton, OH 45420.
