Richard G. Wentz 78 of Eaton, OH died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at his residence. Born on April 22, 1930 in Richmond, IN he was the son of the late Larry Elwood & Bertha Mary (Filby) Wentz. Richard was a U.S. Army WW II veteran and retired from General Motors in Dayton. He was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 78 for several years. Preceded in death by son: Bradley G. Wentz in 1986; daughter: Laura Lynn Wentz in 1956; sisters: Martha Jean Lindsey in 2000, Vena Craycraft in 1998; brothers: Harold Wentz in 1996 and Elwood "Bus" Wentz in 1992; half-brother: Frank Filby in 2003.
He is survived by wife: Areta J. Wentz; daughters: Rita Ann Wentz Rich and Beth Ann Shelton both of Eaton, OH; sister: Laryetta Wentz of Richmond, IN. Grandchildren: Heidi Bortel, Mia Floyd, Laura Steele, Josh Steele, Amanda Gabbard. Great Grandchildren: Nevaeh Newman, Ethan Floyd, Rylee Floyd, Jack Bortel and Kate Isabella Bortel.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 31, 2008 at the First Church of God - 601 East Lexington Road - Eaton, OH with Rev. Jeremy Halstead officiating. Interment will be held in Preble Memory Gardens - West Alexandria, OH with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Thursday July 31, 2008 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the services at the church.
