Richard A. Bair age 70 of Camden, Ohio passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at his residence. He was born on February 5, 1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of the late Richard V. & Polly (Conant) Bair. Richard graduated from Preble Shawnee High School in 1969. He served in the U.S. Army as a MP from 1970 to 1972 serving a tour of duty on the DMZ in Korea. Richard worked at AK Steel for over 30 years as a steam engineer in the Energy Department retiring in 2003. He served for 20 years as a Gratis Township Trustee and 12 years as the Fiscal Officer. He also served 12 years on the Butler Rural Board of Trustees; AEIF Union Treasurer at Armco Steel for several years; attended the West Elkton United Methodist Church and member of the Middletown Masonic Lodge.
Richard married Dolly Cheatham, the love of his life, on December 28th, 1972 and their children: Heather & Harvey Campbell, and Mathew Bair all of Camden, OH; 5 grandchildren: Kaylie, Dylan and Garrett Campbell, Taylor and Mady Bair; sisters: Belinda Bair of Maryland and Salli & Rick Corrington of Camden, OH; mother-in-law: Mabel Cheatham; brother & sisters-in-law: Ray & Angie Cheatham of Middletown, Ohio and Debbie & Rick Thompson of Kentucky; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law: Janie & John Glossip; father-in-law: David M. Cheatham.
Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 29th, 2021 at the West Elkton United Methodist Church 120 South Main Street West Elkton, Ohio. The funeral service will be 1:00 PM at the church with Rev. Sandra Apgar officiating. Interment will be held in Fairmound Cemetery – West Elkton, Ohio with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
