Rev. Troy Eugene Owens, Sr., 81 went to be with the Lord, on Thursday, December 29, 2016. Born on May 6th 1935 at the Raven, Kentucky Post office while in route to the hospital, son of the late Elijah & Nancy (Short) Owens. He grew up in Pippapasses, Kentucky and loved the mountains and it's people. He cherished God and his family above all.
Troy met Zola Mae Noble (a friend of his Sister Blossom) and they were married in Liberty, Indiana on September 4, 1953. They moved to Dayton, Ohio where he worked for The National Cash Register Company in the heat treat department until NCR moved out west in the early 1970's. He retired from Stanhope Products in Brookville, Ohio where he was a tool and die maker.
Troy became a Christian and a minister of the Gospel of Christ in 1969. He was an evangelist and pastor, devoted to the Lord's work. He and Zola were very committed to their walk of faith together. He was so committed to the Gospel that even when he no longer remembered his name he continued to talk to others about Jesus, still sewing seeds. Together, hand in hand, Troy and Zola, touched the lives of all they knew and met. Troy never met a stranger and was well versed in the Word of God, making it much easier to ask him for scripture references than look them up yourself.
He is preceded death by his loving Wife of 63 years, Zola Mae (Noble) Owens; Brothers, Colonus Smith, Columbus Smith, Elbert Owens and Mark Owens; Sisters, Jessie Lloyd, Velma Louvins, Mona Harrod.
He leaves behind Children, Troy Eugene Owens, Jr of Richmond, Indiana, Betty Ann (Jim) Murray of Rarden, Ohio, Barbara Jean (Mike) McGlone of Dayton, Ohio and Timothy Ray (Cindy) Owens, Sr. of Gun Barrel City, Texas; Grandchildren, Heather Marie Hunter, Lewis Eugene Jenkins, Ladessa McGlone, Connie McGlone, Lana Ahrens, Melinda Bradford and Timothy Ray Owens; Great Grandchildren, Alex, Evan, Mattie, Hayden, Molly, Lucas, Dominic, Timothy, Sophia, Blake and Hayden; A host of nieces and nephews!
Troy will be remembered for many things; preaching the Word, being there for friends and family in need, his fishing abilities and stories, his jokes, and so much more. He will be missed by all who knew him, but his love and the knowledge he shared will live on through his family and friends!
