Raymond D. Spears

Raymond D. Spears, 82 of Lewisburg, Ohio died Thursday, January 30, 2020 at his residence. Born on April 16, 1937 in Parkersburg, West Virginia he was the son of the late Thomas H. & Mary A. (Jacks) Spears. A 1955 graduate of Wilbur Wright High School in Dayton, OH he was an all-state Basketball player his Senior year. Graduate of Otterbein College receiving his Bachelor’s Degree and University of Dayton Master’s Degree. Raymond was a Public-School Teacher at Columbus, Ohio, Dayton Public Schools and Twin Valley/Tri-County North Schools retiring in 1996. He was a Baseball, Basketball, Football and Track Coach for many years and Ohio High School Athletic Association Track & Field Official for 42 years. Member of the State Teachers Association and Past President of the Tri-County North Teachers Association.

Preceded in death by son: Jack R. Spears in 1995, sister: Velma Waker in 2019. 

Survived by his wife: Pamela A. (Wetherill) Spears; children: Cecelia (Garcia) Spears, James & Bonnie Kinney Spears, Jennifer & Jeff Burroughs and Jerry Spears; grandchildren: Nathan & Valerie (Moon) Spears, Sarah Spears, Maximillian Demunnik, Megan Spears, Zachary Spears, Morgan Demunnik, Andrew Spears and Abigail Spears; several nieces and nephews. 

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, February 3, 2020 at Barnes Funeral Home 411 North Commerce Street Lewisburg, Ohio. The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the funeral with Pastor David Doseck officiating. Interment will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery – West Alexandria, Oh.
