Ray N. Strickler

Ray N. "Dude" Strickler, 101, formerly of Eldorado, OH, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Vancrest Health Care Center, Eaton, OH, where he had resided for several years.

Ray was born October 2, 1912 in Castine, OH to Oliver & Lillie B. (Gillam) Strickler. He attended Monroe School, West Manchester, OH. On January 29, 1937, at the courthouse in Richmond, Indiana, he married Evelyn Ruth Cox and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage together before her death in February, 2001.

Ray worked as a carpenter, and retired from Carpenter's Union 104, Dayton, OH. He took great pride in gardening and preserving his produce. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing.

He attended the Ithaca Open Bible Church.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 2 brothers: Harold Strickler & Harmon Strickler, 6 sisters: Mabel Harrison, Esther Omler, Marie Strickler, Reva Ritchie, Celella Strickler, Marjorie Rodgers, son Richard Strickler, granddaughter Vickie Strickler, grandson Daniel Reese.

Survivors include 3 daughters: Viola (Leon) Wogoman, New Madison, Virginia (Cecil) Reese, Eaton, Shirley Lutz, Greenville, son Harold (Cheryl) Strickler, Greenville, daughter-in-law June Strickler, Pitsburg, 14 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren.

The Funeral Service for Ray Strickler will be Monday, January 13, 2014, 11:30 AM at Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, 311 N. Main St. Eldorado OH with Pastor David Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park, Covington, OH. Family will receive friends Monday from 10 - 11:30 AM at the Funeral Home.
