R. Eugene Plunkett

R. Eugene Plunkett age 80, of Eaton, Ohio went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 21, 2011 at The Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton, OH. Born on May 25, 1931 in Montgomery County, Ohio he was the son of the late Herman S. & Fern E. (Brubaker) Plunkett. Gene was a 1949 Arcanum High School graduate, received Bachelor of Science Degree in 1953 from Manchester College and his Master's Degree from Miami University in 1964. He taught at Dayton Public Schools for 33 years retiring in 1992. Gene was the co-owner/operator of Plunkett Plumbing of Eaton and a Licensed Ohio Master Plumber. Member of Preble County Retired Teachers Association and Eaton Church of The Brethren, serving as a church Deacon, active in the music ministry and many church committees.

Survived by Wife of 59 years: Barbara J. (Rust) Plunkett; Son: Daniel E. Plunkett of Eaton, OH; Daughters & Sons-In-Law: Deborah & John Lahman of Peoria, AZ; Elizabeth & Mike Hartsough of Richmond, IN and Mary & David Lahman of North Manchester, IN; Sister: Norma & Rolf Theen of Layafette, IN. 9 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Service will be held 3:00 pm, Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Eaton Church of The Brethren – 813 Camden Road – Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Martin Peacock and Rev. Stan VanAusdal officiating. Interment will be held in Mound Hill Cemetery Eaton, OH. Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
