Phyllis Anne Marling

Phyllis Anne (Lilly) Marling, age 89 of Eaton, Ohio, died Thursday, July 25, 2024, at The Springs of Richmond in Richmond, Indiana. She was born on January 28, 1935, in Richmond, Indiana, daughter of the late Carl Otis and Bessie (Catey) Lilly. Phyllis was a graduate of Union High School in College Corner, Indiana and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where she received her master’s degree in education. A resident of Preble County since 1964, Phyllis was a teacher for National Trail until 1998 and taught at Community Christian School until 2004. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Richmond, Indiana.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, David E. Marling in 2023 and her grandchildren, Matthew Griffin in 1989, Katie Griffin in 1996 and Nathan Marling in 2020. 

Survived by her children, Scott and Lisa Marling, Will and Cheryl Marling, George and Brandi Marling and Carla and Joe Griffin; sister-in-law, Nancy (Ray) Fisk; 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio with a Celebration of Life starting at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Damon Marling and Will Marling officiating. Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 in Richland Cemetery, Liberty, Indiana.
