Phyllis D. Root

Phyllis D. Root, age 77, of Lewisburg, Ohio passed away peacefully Saturday, January 3, 2015 with her family at her side. She was born May 1, 1937 in Preble County to John M. Heck and Mary E. (Smith) Heck.

She was a 1955 Lewisburg Union High School graduate and served as President of her class, President of the Ladies Auxiliary Post #975 and a member of Commodore Preble Chapter of the DAR and attended the Lewisburg First United Church of Christ. She will be greatly missed by her family and the great many close friends she had, she was an inspiration to those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, John M. Heck, brother, John W. Heck, daughter-in-law Dez Seery, grandson, Keith Seery, great-grandson, Jacob R. Collins.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth D. Root whom she has been married to since June 5, 1971, Her mother, Mary E. Heck of Lewisburg, OH, brother, Phil Heck of Plant City FL, sister Susan Heck of Lewisburg OH, 5 daughters and 4 sons, Dixie and Roger Kier of Lewisburg OH, Patricia and Jeff Garner of West Manchester OH, Lisa Seery of Greenville OH, Sue Boggs of Brookville OH, Marilyn Bourne of Frankfort Indiana, Donald K. Seery of Waco TX, Robert Seery of Huber Heights OH, Patrick Seery of Huber Heights OH, Anthony and Donna Root of Lewisburg OH. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren (expecting 3 more great-grandchildren), nephew Joseph Heck and several more nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Barnes Funeral Home, 411 N. Commerce St., Lewisburg, Ohio with Rev. David O. Justis officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
