Paul W. Smith

Paul W. "Smitty" Smith, 66, of New Paris, died Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at his residence. He was born August 10, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of Merl Joseph & Letha Mae (Wade) Smith, who preceded him in death. Paul was a well known area plumber for over 35 years, having worked many years for John Mondics Plumbing and later becoming self-employed. He was a former member of the Eldorado Fire Department, and a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 360, New Paris. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.

Paul is survived by his wife of 27 years, Linda J. (Moore) Smith; 1 daughter: Kimberly (Benjamin) Thompson, New Paris; 3 sons: Raymond Gilbert, Jr., Eaton; Scott Smith, Indianapolis, IN; Chris (Renee) Smith, Eaton; 7 grandchildren: Anthony Gilbert, Gregory Thompson, Joshua Wade Gilbert, Trevor Wade Smith, Amanda Joan Thompson, Hailey Rea Gilbert, Kyra Danielle Gilbert; 3 brothers: William "Bill" Smith, Tommy Smith, both of AZ; Leon Smith, IN; 2 sisters: Sally Kathryn Smith, AZ; Wendy "Sue" Mayhugh, KY.; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Alan Michel Thompson; brothers & sisters: Rethal D. Smith, Merl Ray Smith, Iva Lou Smith, Alice Diane Smith, Unita Dell Chim, Glenda Joyce Smith.

The funeral service for Paul W. Smith will be Friday, January 23, 2009 at 11:00AM at the Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, 311 N. Main St., Eldorado, OH, with Pastor Steve Whalen officiating. Burial will follow in Wares Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, January 22nd from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
