Paul Charles Sawyers

Paul Charles Sawyers, age 89, of Camden, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 14, 2008 at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio. Born on February 16, 1919 in Delta, Missouri he was the son of the late Frederick L. & Mary Minnie (Walker) Sawyers. Paul proudly served during World War II in the U.S. Army Aircorp, 1077th Army Airforce Base Unit as a Supply Clerk. Paul worked for many years for the Carpenters Union Local #637 in Hamilton, Ohio. Paul retired in 1981 after 3 years as an self-employed contractor in construction. Paul was a member of the Higher Heights Church of God in Camden, Ohio. Paul volunteered his time to help at the Food Pantry and was a former Sunday School Superintendent at the church. Member Emeritus of the Pastor's Council. Life Time Member of the Disabled American Veterans. He loved to Hunt and Fish.

Preceded in death by his brothers, Frederick Sawyers, Jr., Jesse D. Sawyers in 1991 and Norman E. Sawyers in 1993; sisters, Mildred Bently, Hazel Knight and Helen Hart in 1995.

Survived by his wife of 50 years, Jerrelyn C. (Prifogle) Sawyers of Camden, Ohio; daughters & sons-in-law, Joyce & Coy McGlone of Goshen, Ohio, Barbara Weed of Millford, Ohio, Natalie & Kenny Brock of Kings Mountain, Kentucky, Jacqueline Sawyers of Camden, Ohio, Michelle & Harold Huffman of Gratis, Ohio; grandchildren, Vicki, Michael, Tony, Cliffton, Joyce Ann, Jeremy, Heather, Harold Paul; 20 great grandchildren; brother, T. J. Sawyers of Williford, Arkansas; sister, Louise Hill of Helena, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Odra G. Sawyers of West College Corner, Indiana; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 Higher Heights Church of God, 8111 US Route 127 North, Camden, Ohio with Rev. Marvin Hocker officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Nein - Barnes Funeral Home, 249 North Main Street, Camden, Ohio. Interment will be held at Hopewell Cemetery with Full Military Honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
