Heaven received Patricia Lavone Jordan, age 81, on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 1:50 a.m. she was surrounded by family and her husband of 65 years, William (Junior) Jordan in their New Paris home at the time of her passing.
Born to Marvin and Ada (Ketring) Petry on August 30, 1936, Patricia remained a long-term resident of Preble County. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers Duane (Pete) and David Petry. She is survived by three children Ronald (Melissa) Jordan, Janice (Vern) Bradshaw and Teresa (Brad) Lee; by three sisters Zona Campbell, Evelyn Scott and Marilyn (Jerry) Bannon; by two granddaughters, Four grandsons, two great-grandsons, one great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
Patricia was a dedicated wife, mother and servant of the Lord, Jesus Christ. She contributed 36 years of consecutive ministry within the Church of God in Richmond, IN. formerly located on Chester Blvd. she taught an array of Sunday school classes, led many Bible studies, hosted numerous cottage prayer meetings and served as both church secretary and treasurer at various times. Besides being a home maker, Patricia worked as both secretary and book keeper of her husband’s construction and contracting business for over forty years. During the earlier years of their marriage, they owned and operated a greenhouse business in Richmond, IN. her life-long pursuits and passions included in-depth Bible study, writing Bible-Based articles and pamphlets of various topics, and vegetable gardening. She delighted in either canning or freezing the “fruits” of her labor.
Though her mind became dimmed by Alzheimer’s and dementia, Patricia’s love for her husband, for her family, and for God continued to shine brightly throughout her physical decline.
A celebration of her life and testimony will be led by Rev. Chris Cain of Connersville, IN on Thursday, April 26th at 1:00 pm at Barnes Funeral Home in New Paris, OH. Visitation hours will be held from 12 pm to 1 pm prior to the formal service. A graveside gathering will follow at Spring Lawn Cemetery also in New Paris.
